Part 2 summary Part 2 of the book starts with Father Julliard. Father Julliard talks about Pascal Aguila. Pascal Aguila was the lawyer and he was the freedom fighter. It means he fought for the poor people. Pascal Aguila exposed senators stealing money but he was possibly killed by the police. Also, in chapter one, Raphael, Gardo and Rat researched about Jose Angelico and they had some information about him. In chapter 2, Raphael is taken by the police. As we know, police beat Raphael so badly and police were going to kill Raphael by putting him to the window. After all, because of Raphael’s determined he kept the secret until the end and he survived. He never gave up. In chapter 3, Raphael researched about the Jose Angelico, he was free from the jail but he was killed by police because Jose Angelico stole the money from vice president and sadly he had a daughter left alone from him. As you see, we are starting to see the links between Jose Angelico and Pascal Aguila. The examples are they both fought for poor, they were poor when they were young, both killed by the police and they both involved with the government. The last thing I want to mention is, Raphael and Pascal Aguila, they both fight for the justice. This chapter is important because we learned about that the stories are getting some clues. We know how Jose Angelico and Pascal Aguila killed and what things they did, also, we know the violence of police. In chapter 2, the action increases with using the descriptive words and using the fast action. The author creates fast action by using many action words in one sentence. For example, he slapped and kicked me and I was knocked to the floor. Also, he uses lots of descriptive words and it makes the story more interesting. We learned that Raphael is determined like he kept the secret. Raphael is not selfish and thinks deeply because he cares about his friends and aunt so that’s why he kept the secret until the end even though police kept beaten him up. Also, we know that Raphael is solving the problem about the Jose Angelico and he has lots of information about him in his brain. Andy Mulligan creates suspense by building up the story about police corruption, like in part 2, Raphael so hardly beaten up by the police until his face gets all bloody. Before, in another chapter, Andy Mulligan gave us the stories that were connected to the police, so he made us to have some ideas about the main story. Jose Angelico is the one who has a similarity with Pascal Aguila. Like I said, Jose Angelico was killed by the police and he stole money from vice president. He is thirty three years old man and he is a house boy, also, he is a good man. One of the themes in part 2 of trash is police’s violence. One of the examples is “I was lifted up and they were carrying me to the windows. (pg.63)”. This means that police were tried to kill Raphael by throwing him towards the window. Another example of police’s violence is “I don’t know where he hit me or what with, but I was knocked to the floor (pg.61).” This means that the police don’t care about the kid and they just beat and slap the kid. No cares. They never think about the kid and they’re just crazy about getting the answer. This is my summary Min joo kim 7K          |
